I absolutely LOVE shells. And seaglass. And rocks. In fact I just got back from the beach with a 22 lb. bag of treasures I found. I paint the rocks and use them in my house decor and I have a really nice seaglass collection. The SSS Beachcomber Seashells Wafer Dies from the Shine On collection seemed like the perfect product for me to play with today! Here is an image of them:

Originally I was going to do a “random stamping” background with the shells like I did with the fish yesterday but things took a little turn during creating as they often do! Here is my card:

First I made the background. I tried one using Distress Oxide Inks and even Mica Spray over it. I didn’t like that one at all. The Oxide inks didn’t look like sand even with splatters and the Mica spray made it took sparkly. Next I made this one with SSS PSInks which just can’t be beat! I used one of my favorite and most used sets – Trio 10 with Cookie, Gingerbread, and Mocha inks. I rubbed Cookie over the cardstock first using the new SSS brushes from this release. I then splattered the two darker colors over it as well as some white. This gave it the gradient look I was going for.

I die-cut the Beachcomber Seashells dies three times. I then colored them with Copic markers. I did the coral ones first with the intention of making them look somewhat realistic. But then I went way off course with the next two shells and used aqua and purple. NO idea how or why I came up with this color combo but it kinda works and I like it! I don’t know anything about the whole color wheel stuff (embarrassing to admit) so I just rely on my eye to get it right. I attached them to the background here and there but didn’t cover it like I was planning. I liked them this way looking like they were just laying in the sand. I stamped a sentiment from the Bring On the Sun stamp set and die-cut it out with the matching dies. I attached that to the bottom.
I love these Beachcomber Seashell dies so much. I love allllll of the summer products in the Shine On release! Thanks for visiting and HAPPY FOURTH OF JULY TO ONE AND ALLLLLLLLL!!!!! (the one is Lori who is always sweet enough to leave me a comment and the all is anyone else that may visit my blog haha).
