I have a Christmas card to share with you today using several of the new products from the SSS Sugar and Spice release. I started with the Candy Cane Plate and then I added with the Gingerbread Joy stamp and die set and I used the Rounded Rectangle EZ Strips and Reverse Joy to the World sentiment strips. Here is an image of the Candy Cane Plate:

I die-cut the Candy Cane Plate die from white cardstock and placed a piece of red metallic paper behind it. Then I went rogue…

I decided I wanted my candy canes to be colored (because i can’t resist coloring!). I will admit the way I did it is a bit wonky looking and I’ll explain why in a minute. I took the white cardstock that I had die-cut and attached it with removable adhesive to a piece of white cardstock the same size. I then used a black fine tip Micron to outline all of the white parts of the candy cane. I used a gray Copic to add shadows inside this area. Then I drew lines on the inside of each opening where the red would be. I colored in that area with red Copics. Can you look at it and see what I mean about what I did wrong? I should have lined up the lines on the white parts with the inside of the red parts. They are too far out. I glued the two pieces together and accepted my imperfect approach…

I stamped the gingerbread man from the Gingerbread Joy stamp and die bundle and colored him with Copics. I die-cut a Reverse Joy to the World sentiment strip with the EZ Strips Rounded Rectangle dies and attached that to the bottom of the card with foam tape behind it. I added the gingerbread boy above it with foam tape behind him as well. Then I die-cut a bow using the Pretty Bow Dies and Red Metallic Cardstock and attached that to the bottom.

I hope you enjoyed this “imperfect” card using the Candy Cane Plate and now if you are going to color one, you will know how to do it right! Thanks for visiting today! Suzy
