Today is day 1 of the SSS 2 day blog hop celebrating the In My Heart release. I will be sharing a card using the new Folk Flowers stamp as shown here:

There is also a set of 2 stencils you can purchase separately or with the stamp set as a bundle. I didn’t use the stencils, but I will next time! Here is my card:

I embossed the Folk Flowers 6×6″ stamp set with white embossing powder on Tim Holtz watercolor paper. I used this paper because it is pure white. Anytime I am watercoloring with my Karin Brushmarkers, I use embossing powder so it keeps the colors where they belong. The markers will “reconstitute” or move if you get them wet even after they are dry. So it is easy to mess up without the embossing powder holding them in place! I applied water to each flower and then used a waterbrush against the tip of each marker to drop color into the water. I used more than one color for each flower. If you use enough water inside the embossed flower (which holds it), it blends the colors beautifully without any lines. That is my favorite part of these markers – the bright intense colors and the way they blend in water. Just let them sit and dry!

I cut this 6×6″ piece down a tiny bit and then matted it with a piece of orchid cardstock. I used a darker purple for the card base. It ended up being about 6.25″ x 6.25″. I used the new With Love Die for the sentiment. I rubbed Violet and Marine ink over the letters and glued them over the white background. I attached it to the bottom of the card with foam tape beneath it. I added some sequins from the Lilac Embellishment Mix around the sentiment.

Here are two other cards I have shared over the past two days using products from the In My Heart release. I’ll link you to the blog post where I have products used and directions for each.

This card was made with the A Mother’s Love stamp and die bundle and the Love You Mom Die. You can see this blog post HERE.

This card was made with Let’s Shellabrate stamp and die bundle and the Crimped A2 Rectangle Dies. The blog post with directions and products used can be seen HERE.

I have the Karen markers but haven’t used them very much… and never with embossing powder. I’m a bit confused about how you used the embossing powder with the stamp. Did you emboss the flowers (not the background). Did you heat the embossing powder before or after you put down the color with the marker? I would like to try what you’ve done. Thanks.

What a wonderful way to watercolor your flowers! Embossing powder is fantastic for watercoloring. I love the copic marker coloring on your other cards. I am still working on my skills with them.
